We have ten “grom templates” that I developed over the years while making skimboards for the young Sam Stinnett. These SS (super small) skimboards have more curve in the outline than the pro shape for ease in doing tight radius turns by light riders. The pulled in tail helps the young skimmer have more control with their light weight and small feet. Added outline curve around the front foot makes it easier for the small skimboarder to put the board on rail and do tight turns in the pocket. These boards have a slight added undercut on the entry bottom rail to help the groms make smooth turns without catching their edge. The grom skimboards are cut from 3/4” divinycel foam, left thick under the front foot for flotation, and heavily tapered in the nose and tail for a sensitive feel progressive flex pattern for the light rider. These skimboards should be glassed with E glass to keep the board flexible, carbon fiber is overkill and will make these boards too stiff for little kids. If you plan to be a future world champ, or just ride the best skimboard that a kid can have, I highly recommend the Grape Grom Skimboard.
